On August 19, 2011, and ending my vacation, I climbed the mountains Buey, Castillo de Vinuesa, both in Soria and the Peñon Santosonario or Santo Cenarrio in La Rioja (2,058 m.) starting from the Santa Inés pass in the province of Soria in the Sierra Cebollera.

There is nothing special on that, were it not that having reached the top of the Santosonario I have completed all 32 mountains of La Rioja over 2,000 meters (including the 4 peaks on the border of Soria and Burgos), and probably I have been the first Dutch that has done that.

I am mountain aficionado since 2004, when I had to hang up my bike because of a herniated disc, now overcome thanks to mountaineering.

The truth is that La Rioja from the perspective of mountaineering is a privileged area within Spain, few provinces have so many possibilities and many routes in such a small area.

Except in special cases like that of day 19, when I had to drive almost two hours by car to get to the tee, usually in less than an hour from the village of San Asensio, there are hundreds of beautiful routes in the Sierra de la Demanda, Sierra de Toloño, Montes Obarenes, Sierra Cebollera, Sierra de Cameros (new and old), Sierra de Serradero, Sierra de Castejon, Sierra de Urbión etc. Rioja Baja is a bit further away but recently I have also done a very interesting route such as the rise to Peña Isasa starting from the ruins of Turruncún.

Estos son los montes superados/these are the conquered mountains:
